The strategy session was attended by representatives of three regions

Yesterday in Ekaterinburg the strategic session aimed at the development of the World-class Ural Interregional Research and Education Center (UIREC) “Advanced Industrial Technologies and Materials” was launched. The event is aimed at strategic planning of UIREC activities for 2022-2024, the creation of a communication platform for the development of the center and the elaboration of the key projects of UIREC. Representatives of the Moscow School of Management Skolkovo participate in the organization and conduct of the session.

The participants include representatives of science, education, business and authorities of the Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk and Kurgan regions. Working in groups, they will analyze the results and the current state of the key science and technology projects of UIREC: the stage of implementation, the level of technology readiness, problems and prospects of the projects.

The Ural Federal University initiated the creation and serves as the project office of the UIREC.

“The Center was very successful in 2021, every indicator was met. We are proud that we attracted a large amount of funds from the federal and regional budgets. The total volume of state support alone exceeds 380 million rubles. Some of the Center’s projects have already won contests this year under Russian Government Decree No. 218. Out of 26 technological projects of UIREC, 18 are directly aimed at import substitution, and 15 projects ensure world-class achievements. This is all extremely relevant now,” said Victor Koksharov, Rector of Ural Federal University and Chairman of the Presidium of the UIREC Governing Board, at the opening of the strategic session.

According to Victor Koksharov, the stratsession will make it possible to choose the most promising areas and understand which projects need to be supported.

“It’s very important that in 2021 we worked together, we had a close partnership. I want to thank South Ural and Kurgan State Universities, with whom we did everything together. Of course, the funds allocated from the federal budget for UIREC development will be distributed in coordination with the regions and will be used to support their projects,” added the head of Ural Federal University.
