The Ural and West Siberian Interregional Scientific and Educational Centers have exceeded almost all the target indicators for 2022. According to the plenipotentiary representative of the President Vladimir Yakushev, this demonstrates that the work of the centers is organized competently, and that there is well-established cooperation between universities and research organizations and business and government authorities.
“The effectiveness of any activity is, first and foremost, about practical results. The Ural and West Siberian RECs show systematic success in the execution of their projects. It is not the first year when the number of developments submitted for implementation in the production sites of the real economy has exceeded the targets. What is especially important is that these solutions meet the most urgent demands of the Russian economy and other areas,” said Vladimir Yakushev.
The projects that have been implemented under the auspices of the Ural and West Siberian Research and Educational Centers are used in various sectors of the economy. They facilitate import substitution and the technological sovereignty of our country.
For example, elements of technological equipment used in liquid salt reactors have been developed for the nuclear industry.
High-frequency near- and long-range radars have been created, which improve the functional properties of unmanned transport.
The production is established of autoclave units that are used in the machine-building industry for creation of heat protective coatings.
Two types of medical equipment for nursing newborns are being put into mass production: an open resuscitation system and an infrared heater.
In the automotive industry, together with the Ural Automobile Plant, a prototype of the Arctic passenger bus has been created. The prototype has successfully passed tests at extremely low temperatures.
In the area of reconstructive surgery, a 3D-printing technology was developed for manufacturing individual patient-specific implants made of unique titanium alloys.
In the oil and gas sector, an experimental prototype of a rodless oil production unit has been developed and successfully tested in a real oil field.
The first components of the future software product have been developed that will allow to investigate the geological properties of core in a digital environment and determine under what conditions more efficient oil displacement is achieved.
The project portfolios of the Ural and West Siberian Research and Educational Centers include both “mature” projects with high degree of readiness and those that are in the beginning of implementation. There are various mechanisms of financial support from the state. Up to 80% of project financing is provided by the business community. In the first half of 2023, Ural and West Siberian RECs will hold a joint strategic meeting to develop joint, mutually beneficial forms of cooperation. This kind of cooperation between the participants of the two RECs, which cover all regions of the Ural Federal District, will further enhance their productivity.
