The project aims to increase technological efficiency and adopt international digital standards in management. The project creates new devices and software systems to take a significant share in Russian and foreign markets.
As part of the project, Ural Federal University is conducting research tests of algorithms and devices from Prosoft-Systems to digitalize the energy sector. Specialists are studying various models of power systems functioning in many operating modes including complex ones. The test center has a software and hardware complex that allows real-time simulation (reproducing currents and voltages, information flows, etc.) which makes it possible to test devices and algorithms in conditions similar to the operation of existing power facilities. This is very much in demand today at substations of various voltage classes.
‘Every year, this complex will be more and more actively implemented in Russia’s energy sector,’ says Andrey Pazderin, a UrFU professor and head of the project developing a digital substation. ‘It helps optimize the power system operation and make it more efficient and economical. The issue of safety is also important; this development makes it possible to reduce the accident rate by several times. Our industrial partner has plans to take a significant market share in Russia and go global in terms of sales.’
