In cooperation with Ural Federal University, E. S. Yalamov Ural Optical and Mechanical Plant will launch the production of a new defibrillator for use in hospitals and ambulances and modernize the AND A15, an automatic external defibrillator. The joint project is financed by the Sverdlovsk branch of the Industrial Development Fund.
‘Ural Federal University performs complex work on the organization and implementation of the project. Together with specialists from Ural Optical and Mechanical Plant and I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, we develop electronics and design embedded software,’ explains Valentina Ovchinnikova, Ural Federal University Deputy Vice-Rector for Project-Based Learning and Additional Professional Education.
AND A15 automatic external defibrillators are adapted for use in the public defibrillation program, and anyone can use them,’ says Alexei Chupov, chief designer of the design bureau of medical devices at the Ural Optical and Mechanical Plant. The devices have an intelligent heart rate analysis system and a voice prompt function. Also, they may be used intuitively and cannot inflict harm: with no indications, the device will not deliver a shock.
The introduction of advanced technical and technological solutions in the field of defibrillation will make it possible to fulfill one of the priority goals of Healthcare, a national project meant to reduce mortality caused by circulatory system failures by 23.4 percent by 2024.
